Pumpkins Galore!

There is something so cherishable about pumpkins. They are bright and round, can be made into wonderful things such as pumpkin pie or jack-o-lanterns. I always delight in getting a pumpkin in October! Last weekend we bought one to make pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving, and today we got one for the doorstep.

Pumpkin central: Niagara Nurseries. Chosen pumpkin at home after a bath.

The Bubbling Brook

This past week was rather unpleasant, thanks to bureaucracy. However, Mum and I managed to find time to go for country drive and for a walk in the woods this morning. We went to Short Hills where there were rolling hills and a bubbling brook.

When we parked the car, we could hear a farmer’s rooster crowing in the distance which is a sound you don’t hear often. Once we got amongst the trees, there was just the occasional familiar bird banger that went off- a sound I have grown to enjoy after living in rural Niagara as a child. It is a sound I associate so much with the beauty of autumn and the smell of grapes in the air.

It was a lovely afternoon’s outing.
